What security measures has your website put into effect to secure my information?
Because we take security very seriously, we have many measures implemented to ensure online safety for our users and overall enjoyment of your website experience with us. Firstly, we have implemented 256-bit SSL security (more on that in the next few FAQ's). Also, you will note our URL address has https - the "s" standing for secure site. Further more, you will see on your browser window (bottom right hand side for Mac or in the URL address bar for PC's), that their appears a padlock. Click on this padlock. You will note that it says "High-grade Encryption (AES-256 256 bit). Lastly, on the left of the URL bar up the top left you will see our little logo icon displayed. Clicking on this you will see the message "Connection to this website is encrypted".
What forms of payment can I use to process secure payment?
We accept Mastercard, Visa, Diners Club and PayPal. We also accept bank deposit, money orders and cheques. Cheques are subject to a 5 day clearance period. Our servers use 256-bit SSL encryption technology, so online security is first and foremost at The Distinct Whiskey Company. This SSL Certificate can provide encryption between your web browser and our web server so that your personal information can be transmitted over the Internet securely.
What is that TrustWave icon on the top right hand side of your website?
TrustWave is a leading provider of on-demand data security and payment card industry compliance management solutions to businesses and organizations throughout the world. The icon you see (please click on it if you wish), verifies our identity and confirms to you, our customers, that we are infact the official owners and operators of The Distinct Whiskey Company website and a valid business. It will also state that "Your credit card and identity information is secure".
Are my details secure?
Absolutely! All information and data collected on this site is kept strictly confidential. Information is not sold, rented, or loaned to any third parties. The Distinct Whiskey Company take our clients privacy very seriously, and we assure you that we will maintain and use this information responsibly. NOTE: Actual credit card numbers are transmitted and stored using the latest SSL encryption utilizing a very secure and stable 256-bit SSL encrytpion (industry standard is 128-bit) technology. How long will it take for delivery?
All items are dispatched on the same day we have received the product from our suppliers. There may be occurrences at times whereby a particular item you order is rare or difficult to obtain and may take up to a few months before dispatch. We strive to have the quickest online delivery and communication regarding updates with our clients is mandatory.
Do You Ship Oversea?
Yes. However, for customers that wish to have products shipped to designated destinations, such as the United States of America or Canada, we highly recommend that you investigate and consult the appropriate Customs organisation to clarify and confirm any restrictions and that your receipt of ordered goods from us allow passage to your designated address. The Distinct Whiskey Company will not be held liable, accountable or responsible for any restriction/delays, duties/taxes and tariffs which may exist at a specific destination. The Distinct Whiskey Company is currently looking at alternatives to minimise and even eliminate these restrictions and will be announced in due course.
Is your site secure?
Yes - The Distinct Whiskey Company has put in place a number of foolproof security measures to protect our users, some of which we may not be able to disclose. SSL protects our buyer's transactions and provides visitors with proof of our digital identity. With SSL your online transactions are secure, confidential and integral and the risks associated with trading over the internet are removed. SSL is the standard security technology for creating an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browser remains private and integral.
Is my privacy assured?
What if I’ve forgotten my password?
When you go to log-in, you will see an option called “Forgot Your Password?”. Just click on that button and email will be sent to your designated email address with your password.
Can I send my order to a different address?
Yes - simply click on "This is a Gift" check box in the Shopping Cart section and enter the name (if different) and address of the person you want us to deliver to when you are placing your order. Or you could simply just type over the address that already appears on the page. The address that automatically appears when you place an order in the Checkout System is the default address you enter when creating your DWC account with us. PLEASE NOTE: Under Law, we are not permitted to ship to PO Box destinations. Please ensure that you input a proper residential or commercial address for delivery.
I want to buy a gift for my friend, but I don’t know what to get. What should I do?
If you have no way of finding out what your friend likes you can go to our Popular Spirits section to see what the most popular searched has been. You can also subscribe to our DWC Fine Buyers Newsletter where we have, amongst other things, some very fine recommendations. Alternatively, you can read more information about the different products by clicking on the relevant link beside each product to help you make your selection. You can also use our Search function together with the price range to narrow down your search.
How much does Shipping cost?
For full details of our Shipping charges, please click HERE. The costs of overseas parcels are based on the number of bottles ordered and delivery destination.
How quickly will my delivery arrive?
Unless the item ordered is unavailable, most Australian deliveries will arrive within 2 weeks after the order is placed. We will contact you if any items on your order are out of stock to advise on lead times or suggest an alternative. Is there a minimum order?
No - We are happy to ship one bottle if that is all you want.
What happens if my parcel is damaged when it arrives?
We send thousands of parcels every year and only a handful have any problems. However, if your parcel is visibly wet or damaged, or shows signs of having been tampered with, you should either sign for it as ‘Arrived Damaged’ or refuse to sign for it and have it returned to us. You should contact us immediately if this happens.
If you sign for your parcel and subsequently find that something inside is damaged, please take photos of the damaged box and contents before disposing of them and email them to us immediately so that we can arrange a replacement for you.
Are all of your bottles available to buy from the website?
Almost every item we sell is listed on the website, but we sometimes keep special spirits back purely for customers who make enquiries. If you are looking for a specific product not included on the site, please Contact Us.
